A young barn owl, Soren fascinated by his father about the epic stories of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. This story is a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owl kinf from the Evil Pure Ones. Soren is dreaming of someday joining his hearoes, his older brother, Kludd, jeers at the whim, and feel longing to hunt, fly and steal his father's favor from his younger sibling. Kludd's envious has terrible consequences that cause both the owlets to tumble from their treetop home and goes into the talons of the Pure Ones.
